Brooklyn Brewery “Brooklyn Pilsner” Review (#055)

Brooklyn Brewery
“Brooklyn Pilsner”
Brooklyn, New York

From The Brewery:

Brooklyn Pilsner is a refreshing golden lager beer brewed in the style favored by New York’s pre-Prohibition brewers.

Style: Pilsner
Malts: Two-Row Malt from Bamberg, Germany
Hops: Hallertauer Mittelfrueh, Hallertauer Perle, Saaz, Vanguard
ABV: 5.1%
Original Gravity: 12.5 Plato; 1050

Appearance:I poured this inviting golden white headed lager into my new Brooklyn Brewery 20 oz pintglass. It gave a small amount of lacing to the sides of the glass from it’s inch thick, white, small bubbled head; and was fed strongly by big carbonation bubbles.

Smell: Light malt, yeast, and spicy lime hops.

Taste: Sweet and malty, with a whole bunch of citrus and spice hops; mirrors the smells.

Mouthfeel:Lively and very drying. Leaves a slightly tart lime rind finish that makes you want to take another big swig.

Drinkability/Palitability:High; this is not only a very drinkable beer, but very sessionable. Or, in recently used lingo to describe American session beers, a succession beer.

Notes:I enjoyed this beer on one of the hottest nights New York has seen. I went for a swim and enjoyed a few of these. I cannot think of a better day of the year to be enjoying this great beer.
